If you are looking forward to a sailing trip around the Costa Brava, here we are offering the range of our favorite’s coves (or calas, in Spanish) that will impress even the most experienced traveler.

1. Aiguablava, Begur

We are talking about one of the most beautiful beaches of the Costa Brava located near Begur. The bay has an easy access by land, so it is pretty crowded during the high season, but it is still worth seeing and spending some long lazy summer hours enjoying its sandy beach, clear water and amazing nature. Here you will find all the necessary facilities and services, and besides, by boat you can visit some beautiful marine caves in the neighborhood.

2. Illa Roja, Begur

Cala Illa Roja in Begur offers its visitors a unique landscape, with a sandy beach and a large reddish rock in the middle of it. Due to its location, surrounded by rocky walls, and to its difficult access by land, you can enjoy one of the most paradisiacal and intimate beaches of the area (it is also a nudist beach). There are no services and no crowds either, so you will be able to immerse into the pure natural environment of Costa Brava. Besides, you can visit the historical town of Pals nearby.

3. Cala Tavallera, Port de la Selva

This small beach is a hidden treasure of Gerona coast, mostly accessible by the sea, and for that reason remaining seclusive even in summer. Cala Tavallera is a beautiful corner surrounded by virgin nature, with the beach covered both with sand and gravel, a perfect place to escape from the world and enjoy a relaxing day at the sea.

4. Cala Cullaró, Cadaqués

Cala Cullaró, located at Cap de Creus, will welcome you with some fascinating and unique landscapes composed by the rocks that have been formed by the wind and the waves for ages, taking the most curious shapes. Rumors have it that Salvador Dali was inspired by these views for creating some of his works. The access by land is not easy, so anchoring your boat around here will bring you an unforgettable experience in the unique and spectacular surroundings.

5. El Castell Beach, Palamós

El Castell is a virgin beach located in a natural environment, with white fine sand, surrounded by pine trees; one of the most beautiful spots of the area. The beach is accessible by car and has some basic services. On the far left you will find the rests of an ancient Iberian settlement. Besides, if you fancy a walk, you can use the seaside path to reach another wonderful beach – Cala Estreta, in about half an hour walking distance.

6. Cala Montjoi, Roses

Cala Montjoi is located inside the Natural Park of Cap de Creus. The beach is pretty crowded during the summer, as there is a big camping with bungalows right next to it. The surroundings will enfold you with Mediterranean beauty. The place is easily accessible by land and is situated only 20 minutes away from Roses. Definitely, one of the most charming places worth visiting and spending a day during your sailing trip.

7. Cala Montgó, L’Escala

Cala Montgó is another quiet and beautiful sandy beach, perfect place for spending a day with your family, enjoying the crystal clear sea. It is situated between L’Escala and Torroella de Montgrí and offers a wide variety of services, though it might be a bit crowded in the summertime. The beach is protected from the local winds by Montgri highland and is surrounded by pine tree forests, creating the typical Costa Brava landscape.

8. Gola del Ter, Torroella de Montgrí

The Gola del Ter beach is located in the mouth of the river Ter and is considered one of the wildest and solitary places of the Costa Brava. It is a fine sand beach, quite extensive comparing to the ones mentioned above, with small wild dunes that create a pretty original landscape. You can enjoy a quiet day in the unique environment.

9. Cala de Sa Futadera, Tossa de Mar

Tossa de Mar is a beautiful seaside town with interesting historical heritage, and there are quite a few marvelous beaches in the surroundings. Sa Futadera is one of them, and maybe one of the most special. Its outstanding wild beauty and transparent waters make it attractive for visitors, though the access by land is not that easy. There are a few more hidden paradisiacal bays in the neighborhood, between Tossa de Mar and Sant Feliu de Guíxols, in case you decide to sail along the coast, all of them worth visiting.

10. Cala Pola, Tossa de Mar

Cala Pola is another hidden corner of Costa Brava, situated near Tossa de Mar, and one of the most charming ones. The beach is covered with white sand, the water is crystal clear and the surrounding nature inspires to relax and spend an unforgettable day in the purest Mediterranean atmosphere.

11. Cala Bramant, Llança

Bramant is another hidden treasure of the Catalan Coast. Its peculiarity is that it is separated from the open sea by the rocks about 10 meters high, forming a kind of protected natural pool. The beach has coarse sand, and the surrounding rocky walls create an intimate atmosphere that attracts romantic couples (which is why the bay is sometimes called “The lovers´ bay”). The natural environment is certainly very different from the typical Costa Brava landscape. The seabed is spectacular here, so don´t forget your diving mask!
